YIPPPEEEEEE

Graduation is done and over! We had two seniors that completed all of their standards and are moving on to bigger and better things. Dara and Gen both plan to attend UAA this fall. Both girls also received scholarships this year. Congrats to both of them!
The weather here in SMK has been pretty nice. Friday night we had a bonfire down on the beach. All but two teachers were in attendance. It was a great night of laughs and memories! We seriously have a tight staff and I am really going to miss those that are not returning!
Jill took this picture of Chuck and I. I personally thought it was pretty funny, however, Chuck was not nearly as amused as I. That could be because I was actually making fun of something Chuck had done earlier in the evening. All in fun Chuck - no harm done!

Well Randy will be in St. Michael tomorrow! I am so pumped... but not nearly as much as he. I believe I've gotten 3 emails from him so far today. He leaves home about 4:30 so I don't expect too many more - but who knows. He's taken to emailing me through his cell phone lately...
Happy last days of school to all the PHS graduates! Nathan, Emelia, and Victor - you guys rock! Congrats and best wishes to each of you! (and to the rest of the class as well.)
Back in Michigan in 2 short weeks now...

Well... only 10 days of school left! Things are really starting to wind down. So explain this to me, when things start to wind down... things get SO busy! We are planning prom, graduation, and end of the year picnic activities! It is getting crazy!
Our principal, Jeannie, is off on medical leave through the end of the year. Rick Luthi is now taking control of SMK. He was a principal in UNK last year. We are very glad he is here and I am sure the year will come to a peaceful, easy end!
Eddie Wood, an artist, has been with us for over a week now. He has been teaching the kids dancing. They are really enjoying themselves. There will be a community performance this Friday night. Hopefully the kids will be doing some of the dances next weekend at prom!
Ok, that is about all the news I have for now. I just don't want another email from Emelia chewing me out for not updating! ha ha
I'll be posting you on the upcoming events!

Update for Emelia -

Above is Sir Sid chopping wood. Sid and Silas were busy boys chopping wood while we were over at the camp last weekend. It is a beautiful place, very peaceful and serene! The picture below was taken from the porch of the camp, looking over the ocean.

Last Monday and Tuesday we had an inservice over in Stebbins. I decided to take the Honda instead of cramming into the Suburban. On the way we spotted the reindeer herd, so we stopped for some photos. I guess there are some babies out there but I didn't notice them. I'll have to try to get back out to see if I can get some closer pics.

Here's our Diomede buddy Ben. Ben is moving to Stebbins this fall. The RL does not stand for Real Loser - it's the Red Latern award. There was a game night during the inservice and Ben won this wonderful award.
Well our days are dwindling! We have 15 days of school left. The kids remind us daily, what they just don't get is that we've been counting much longer than they have! Randy will be here in SMK on the 22nd. We'll spend a couple of days here and then we are off to Anchorage. We are going to spend about a week or so on the roads! We are going to go down to Valdez and visit some of my friends and we'll be spending some time in Fairbanks with family and friends up there. Looking forward to showing our wonderful state of Alaska to someone from home!
We then will head back to Anchorage and fly home June 2nd. Looking forward to spending the summer back home!
There you go Emelia... it's updated for now. I'll try to do a much better job for the next three weeks!
