Back home in Michigan! Missing Alaska but loving being home

What??? Five more days in Pickford??? Can you handle that????
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Aunt Tunie, Macers, and Irene came to visit us. We went to see some people we hadn't seen yet.
Had a few more bath experiences, some of which were very interesting! We really enjoyed our extra vacation days! But then, as all good things must come to an end... it's back to the airport -
Grandpa, Grandma and Brock as we say a tearful goodbye
The Nixon Family Farm Boys

This time we did board our plane and headed back to Alaska. We spend the night in Seattle. We actually got a hotel room because we had a 10 hour lay over. We were traveling with a baby and Patty's dog, Tiqa so.. it just made sense. We got to Anchorage Friday morning, did some quick shopping and headed on.
It was a super Christmas and I'm glad we had the extra time, being Brock's first one and all!
Hope everyone had a great holiday!

More Christmas break pictures

The Sunday after Christmas we did brunch with the Lockhart side of the family. Here are some photos from that:
Brock Jordan and Hannah Jordyn
Brock and his buddy, cousin Hunter
Brock and I in our Sunday best, literally.
Brock and his Grandma
My boy is all smiles - he loves being with his family in Michigan!
Ok, now off to the airport...
We were scheduled to fly with Aunt Tunie at 6:20 a.m. so we were up early and off we went. Once we had gotten checked in, we sat and visited with Joe and Irene. The nice lady at the ticket counter came on and announced our flight had been delayed an hour. Patty and I had pretty tight connections so we were a bit nervous! About 15 minutes or so later, that same nice lady announced our flight had been cancelled! Patty and I stood there looking at each other then just broke out into these big dumb looking smiles! Making a long story short - we rebooked our flights for the next available flight - Thursday afternoon.
So we headed back to Pickford!

Pictures from Christmas break

Brock and I got home the afternoon of Christmas Eve. We were greeted by mom, dad, and Randy at the airport. It was great to be home! As tradition has it, we joined the McConkey's at the Sunday for dinner. It was great to spend some relaxing time with family. Cliff was there and I honestly don't know when the last time was that I saw him. Peg, Steve, Carrie, Glen, Lance and Emma were also there. Below is Brock with Carrie and Emma.
Christmas morning - Brock and I spent the whole vacation at mom and dad's. I did tell them that when we come home in May - we will be living at my house! We woke up mid morning and so the day began. Brock was showered with tons of presents, as you can see below! He got all sorts of things from books to John Deere steering wheel to an aquarium, which he loves!
Here's Brock's Christmas stocking, thanks Jerry and Sally. I love it! In years to come I am sure he'll find lots of little goodies but this year all he found was a stuffed Eeyore.
Brock and Grandpa got matching sweatshirts for Christmas. Brock's said Nixon across the back.
One of the other advantages to being home was being able to see our friends! Brock loves his Auntie Watty! (we miss you and Ed!)
You know no matter how long you are home, it's never long enough... off to the airport Sunday 1-6-08.... to be continued...

Santa comes to St.Michael

The National Guard met Santa somewhere along the route, picked him up and flew him to St. Michael! It was a very exciting day for everyone.....
Well except for Brock, who slept through his whole meeting with the jolly ole guy. I am sure there will be many more encounters in the coming years.
Brock and I in our Christmas attire. This was Wednesday night before the Christmas program. We headed to Unalakleet to spend the weekend with Patty and Mark and then on to Anchorage Sunday. We made it back to Michigan Christmas Eve! We'll post more on our Michigan adventures later! Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas!
